CARP 2432 MEGA Lathe
The CARP 2432 XL - Now anything is possible.
Expected availability from September 2026
A stable wood lathe that stands out from all others thanks to its exceptional price-performance ratio. The bed, headstock and tailstock are made from cast iron, while the stand is constructed from 6 mm and 10 mm thick steel, making the CARP 2432 MEGA an exceptionally stable machine. The headstock can both swivel and slide, ensuring a comfortable working position is always available. But there is much more that makes the CARP 2432 an outstanding wood lathe.
Headstock
The headstock of the CARP 2432 MEGA can both slide and swivel. There is always a position that allows comfortable working. The spindle can be locked in six positions. If you frequently work with large rough blanks, you will know how practical this is. When the spindle lock is engaged, the motor cannot be started. The spindle features an M33 thread and an Anti Spin Ring (ASR) safety system as standard.
On the left side of the headstock is a convenient indexing system. Easy to operate and offering MEGA possibilities. The indexing holes are drilled into the handwheel of the headstock. When indexing is not required, the indexing pin can simply be folded away or removed completely. The indexing numbers can be read directly from the spindle.
Tailstock and Quill
The quill (the shaft that extends from the tailstock) is hardened. You cannot see this, but it is a welcome feature when drilling, for example. In addition, the quill uses a trapezoidal thread. This allows it to withstand much higher forces and enables faster in-and-out movement.
The tailstock itself features a practical internal storage compartment. The complete tailstock can also be moved out of the way using the unique Swing Away system. The Swing Away allows the tailstock to disappear behind the bed, ensuring it does not interfere when reaching far across the lathe with the long handle of a bowl gouge. A unique standard feature!
Tool Rest
A third notable difference is the tool rest. Naturally, CARP lathes use CARP tool rests – the best available. Vibration-free and equipped with a 12 mm hardened round steel top bar (62–63 HRC).
The spindle is fitted with an M33 x 3.5 mm thread (DIN 800). It also incorporates a mounting point for the ASR safety ring, which prevents a faceplate or chuck from unscrewing during operation. The ASR ring is supplied as standard.
Motor
The 2250 Watt (3 HP) motor features variable speed control. A reliable Delta variable frequency drive controls the three-phase motor. Thanks to the VFD, maximum torque is always available.
Between centres, workpieces up to approximately 82 cm can be mounted, depending on the drive centre and live centre used.
Because the 2432 can handle both large and small workpieces, the motor offers three adjustable braking times: 5, 10 and 15 seconds.
The VFD housing is equipped with two power outlets.
Stand
A completely new stand has been developed for the CARP 2432. Constructed from 6 mm thick steel, it provides an even wider footprint than the cast iron stand, resulting in increased stability.
The legs are mounted in a triangular configuration and are height adjustable. This allows both shorter and taller turners to set the machine at the ideal working height. This extra-heavy stand is a valuable contribution to the overall quality of the lathe.
Powder Coating
The CARP 2432 is finished with a durable powder coating. No conventional paint has been sprayed onto the machine. Instead, we selected a finish that can withstand the demands of everyday workshop use.
Venturi Module
The CARP 2432 is equipped with a vacuum module that generates vacuum through the Venturi effect. Using compressed air, vacuum is created in a simple and reliable manner without additional motors or pumps. The vacuum connection is integrated into the headstock. The vacuum level can be read directly, allowing you to see exactly how much vacuum is available during operation. This solution is particularly suitable for holding bowls and other workpieces where mechanical clamping is not possible or not desirable.
The Venturi module requires very little maintenance. However, you will need a compressor and an adapter that fits into the rear of the spindle.
Outboard Turning Attachment and Bed Extension
The optional outboard turning attachment allows extremely large diameters to be turned or the bed length to be extended.
The system consists of a bed extension and a raised tool rest support. The outboard attachment can be mounted at various positions on the lathe.
Live Centre
A seriously heavy lathe deserves a seriously heavy live centre.
The specially designed live centre supplied for the CARP 2432 MEGA offers multiple options and can withstand substantial loads. It features three bearings, and the bearing housing is machined as one piece with the Morse taper.
When the point is removed, an M33 x 3.5 thread is revealed underneath, allowing a chuck or faceplate to be mounted directly onto the live centre.

Why Choose a CARP Wood Lathe?
Although CARP is a Dutch brand, CARP wood lathes are manufactured in China and Taiwan. Just like just like most other well-known brands. However, the observant woodturner will notice the differences. The powder-coated finish, the hardened tool rest, the hardened quill, the improved live centre, the trapezoidal thread in the quill.
These are the details that set CARP lathes apart from many others. Details that you may not notice immediately, but that you will certainly appreciate over time.
Look closely, compare, choose CARP.
