CrushGrind mechanism WOOD
Pepper Mill, Salt Mill or ...
CrushGrind grinding mechanisms have been well known among woodturners for many years. They are also widely used by designers. Click here or here to see a few examples. The ceramic grinding mechanism is suitable for grinding both salt and pepper, as well as coffee beans and other dried herbs and spices.
The grind size is adjusted at the bottom of the mechanism. Using the grey adjustment wheel, you can set the desired coarseness. This grinding mechanism is designed without a shaft. This gives you greater design freedom and makes it easier to fill the grinder, as there is no shaft obstructing the opening.
Technical Information
A range of practical tools is available for installing CrushGrind mechanisms. The Carp CrushGrind Drill and the CrushGrind Mini Drill allow you to drill all the required holes for the mechanism in a single operation. There is also a dedicated chisel that enables you to quickly cut the retaining slot for the mechanism's locking tabs without measuring.
The grinding mechanisms are press-fitted into the wood. Therefore, please allow for a minimum wall thickness of 6 mm in your design.
Use and Maintenance
To clean the ceramic grinding mechanism, remove the cone from the grinder and use a stiff brush to clean the ceramic parts. If necessary, soak the cone in lukewarm water to loosen stubborn residue. Allow the grinding mechanism to dry for at least 24 hours before reassembling the grinder.
When switching between different herbs or spices, you can grind a small amount of coarse salt through the mechanism to help remove any remaining residue.
Denmark
The grinding mechanisms from the Danish company CrushGrind are competitively priced while still offering very good quality.
