Oak
European oak is a high-quality hardwood with distinctive properties. The wood naturally contains tannic acid. Tannic acid (tannin) makes the wood durable, but it can also be used to turn the wood an intense black (ebonizing, see FAQ).
medullary rays
Another characteristic feature is the clearly visible medullary rays. These create the recognizable flame and mirror patterns, which are especially prominent in quarter-sawn oak. This gives each piece of wood a lively and exclusive character.
The grain structure of European oak is straight to slightly wavy. The wood is strong, dimensionally stable, and highly workable. It turns, saws, and finishes very well, making it suitable for a wide range of applications such as furniture, flooring, beams, and of course, woodturning projects.
Sustainable
Thanks to this combination of technical quality and natural appearance, European oak is a sustainable choice that only becomes more beautiful with age.

Wood is a natural product and every piece of wood is different. The wood in the picture is meant as an example and will never be exactly the same as the piece sent. Wood can sometimes have a small crack or an old wormhole. The wood is sealed with paraffin.
