Wood for a Handle
Ash is the preferred wood for making a (woodturning) tool handle because it is both heavy and tough. These blanks have been sawn in such a way that the grain runs almost entirely lengthwise through the handle.
A handle is typically around 40 to 45 mm in diameter. All of these blanks are at least 50 mm thick, giving you enough material to shape the handle exactly the way you prefer.
Length
The length of a handle depends on the function of the tool. A spindle gouge handle is often short (up to 20 cm), whereas the handle of a bowl gouge or roughing gouge is usually much longer (for example, 40 cm).

European Ash
Ash is a flexible, tough and strong wood type. For that reason, stairs, tool handles and chairs and stools are often made from it. Ash wood is excellent to turn and easy to finish. Ash wood is usually white but discoloration may occur in the pith. The timber merchant then calls it olive ash.

Dimensions
The wood has been dried and sawn. As a result, the actual dimensions may vary slightly from the stated dimensions. For thicknesses up to 65 mm, the maximum deviation is 5%. For thicknesses above 65 mm, the maximum deviation is 5 mm.
Wood is a natural product and every piece of wood is different. The wood in the photo is an example and will never be exactly the same as the piece that will be sent. Wood can sometimes have a small crack or an old wormhole. The wood is sealed with paraffin.
