edelkastanje/tamme kastanje (30 mm dik)
Sweet Chestnut – European Chestnut
Sweet chestnut is an attractive European hardwood with a warm, light golden-brown colour and a distinctive grain pattern. Its appearance is similar to oak, but it is generally lighter in weight and lacks the prominent medullary rays found in oak. It is pleasant and easy to work with.
Grain pattern
Thanks to its attractive grain and good workability, sweet chestnut is an excellent choice for woodturning, carving and other creative woodworking projects. It is particularly suitable for making small bowls, lids, coasters, small boxes and decorative items.
Sweet chestnut naturally contains a high level of tannins. Be aware that contact with iron and moisture can cause dark staining.
The pieces are approximately 30 mm thick and available in various lengths and widths. Each piece has its own unique colour and grain pattern.
