Have you always wanted to hollow out a large workpiece? It becomes much easier with this support for hollow forms. In English, this is often called a Steady Rest.
This “ring” keeps large-diameter workpieces stable and centered, allowing you to hollow safely. But you can also use it to keep your spindle work from vibrating. The standard version has 3 arms with special wheels, but you can also purchase additional arms (click here) to support the workpiece at, for example, 5 points. An arm can be mounted every 10 degrees. Because the arms can be mounted in many positions, the HollowGuard can also be used as support when turning bowls.

Description
The HollowGuard is built from a heavy-duty rolled steel ring with a thickness of no less than 5 mm, welded to a rigid, thick base plate. The arms are made from 4 mm thick steel. The three double-bearing rollers are rubber-coated and provide increased stability of the workpiece during hollowing while leaving almost no marks. The quick-release levers allow the three arms to be adjusted easily. For proper operation of the HollowGuard, it is important that the steady rest is centered and square to the lathe bed. Two guide rods are supplied, which are installed and adjusted once. After that, the steady rest can be mounted on the bed in no time. The HollowGuard fits all lathes with a flat bed.

The HollowGuard is available in 4 versions. Your lathe does not need to match the specified center height exactly, but it is advisable to choose the center height that is as close as possible to that of your lathe. The minimum clamping diameter is 13 mm. Other sizes can be found in the table below.
