Woodcut Pro-Forme Flexi Hollowing Tool – Without Handle
The Woodcut Pro-Forme Flexi is a versatile hollowing tool for creating hollow forms, vases and other pieces with narrow openings. Thanks to its adjustable cutting head, you can also work in hard-to-reach areas, such as behind the shoulder of a vase.
What makes the Flexi special is the combination of a true cutting tool and an adjustable system of interchangeable links. The cutting head features an adjustable chip limiter, allowing you to precisely control the amount of wood removed. This reduces the risk of catches and makes the tool easy to control.
Cutting Instead of Scraping
The Pro-Forme cutting head is made from M2 HSS and features a specially shaped cutting edge. Rather than scraping the wood away, it cuts cleanly, producing beautiful shavings and a good surface finish, even when hollowing end grain.
The adjustable chip limiter determines how aggressively the tool cuts. This allows you to remove larger amounts of wood as well as make fine, controlled cuts.
Adjustable for Hard-to-Reach Areas
The Woodcut Flexi has interchangeable links that allow you to adjust the position of the cutting head to suit the shape of your workpiece. This is what sets it apart from its bigger brother, the Pro-Forme, whose cutting heads cannot be repositioned.
This is particularly useful when turning vases with narrow necks and broad shoulders. You can position the cutting head to reach the inside of the vessel, even behind the opening.
Universal 16 mm Shank
This version has a shank diameter of 16 mm (5/8 inch), making the Woodcut Flexi compatible with virtually all common quick-change woodturning handles designed for this diameter. Of course, you can also fit it with a traditional wooden handle.

A Heavier 16 mm Shank
The standard Flexi comes with a 13 mm diameter shank. I always thought that was a strange choice. A 16 mm shank is much less prone to vibration and doesn't make the tool much more expensive. So why not give it a 16 mm shank?!
That's why all the Flexi tools sold by dehoutdraaierij.nl have been upgraded with a heavier 16 mm shank, which is also made from stainless steel!
Irons Toolgate
The Irons Toolgate effectively creates a tool rest INSIDE your workpiece. Rest the tool or its handle in the Toolgate, where it can pivot freely. This significantly reduces vibration when working further away from the conventional tool rest.
Sharpening
The Flexi cutting head can easily be sharpened using a diamond file. Move the diamond file diagonally upwards across the bevel.
When sharpening with a file is no longer sufficient, screw the Powerhead onto a small, flat piece of wood. This allows you to sharpen the Powerhead on the platform in front of your grinding wheel.
